June 12–14, 2025 The 3rd Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo will grandly open at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin). This edition features the "International Freight Forwarding Zone", spotlighting global logistics trends, technological innovations, and collaborative networks to build a smarter, greener logistics ecosystem.

Tianjin Port: A Hub of Growth and Connectivity

In 2024, Tianjin Port achieved a cargo throughput of 493 million tons, marking a 3% year-on-year increase, while container throughput reached 23.28 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), up 5% year-on-year. With 147 container routes connecting global hubs such as South America’s east coast, the U.S. East Coast, and Southeast Asia, Tianjin has become a gateway for fresh imports like Chilean cherries and Peruvian blueberries. The port also handled 607 China-Europe/Central Asia freight train trips, transporting over 60,000 TEUs. Customs reforms, including streamlined rail clearance procedures, have significantly enhanced cross-border logistics efficiency for freight forwarders.

Smart Ports and Digital Trade: Pioneering a New Era

At the crossroads of digitalization and carbon neutrality, Tianjin is advancing its "Port-Industry-City Integration" strategy. The Tianjin International Freight Forwarding and Logistics Supply Chain Association will showcase over 230 member enterprises specializing in shipping, warehousing, multimodal transport, and digital platforms at the expo. Innovations such as AI-driven logistics platforms and blockchain-enabled trade solutions will highlight the fusion of technology and traditional logistics.

Strengthening Regional and Global Partnerships

During the expo, the "High-Quality Development Forum for International Freight Forwarding" will convene under the theme "Building Logistics Bridges, Driving Economic Growth." Key agreements include the "Joint Innovation Agreement on Multimodal Transport Development" signed by logistics associations from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Liaoning, fostering regional collaboration and operational synergy.

Charting the Future of Global Logistics

Leveraging opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative, RCEP, and regional integration, the expo’s International Freight Forwarding Zone will demonstrate cutting-edge services and trade innovations. By combining port infrastructure, policy innovation, and technological advancements, Tianjin aims to position itself as an indispensable "Chinese force" in shaping a resilient and sustainable global logistics network.
