June 12–14, 2024 – The 3rd Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Expo") will be grandly held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin). This year’s Expo features the "Shipping Services Zone", showcasing comprehensive support services and derivative industries across shipping finance, insurance, IT, education, legal consultation, and more.
Global Leaders Gather to Shape Industry Trends
The Expo will host leading domestic and international institutions, including the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration, Industrial and Commercial Bank Financial Leasing, Bank of China, Ping An Insurance, PICC, China Life, CITIC Bank, Tianjin University, Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), Lloyd’s Register, Clarksons, Drewry, Shanghai Shipping Exchange, and over 600 enterprises. These participants will collaborate to drive innovation in shipping services.
Breakthroughs in Shipping Finance
Tianjin Shipping Finance Index surged from a baseline of 100 points in 2020 to 146.07 points in 2023, achieving a 13.46% CAGR. The Tianjin Shipping Finance Innovation Development Plan has catalyzed four key sectors: ship financing, marine insurance, fund settlement, and financial derivatives.
Over 70 innovative financial products have been launched by institutions such as Bank of China Tianjin Branch and Bohai Bank, establishing a full-cycle financial service system. Notably, PICC Tianjin Branch underwrote China’s first comprehensive insurance package for large car carriers, providing RMB 8 billion in risk coverage.
Policy-Driven Collaboration
The Tianjin Financial Office and Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration have co-launched a "Finance-Enterprise Matchmaking Platform", facilitating 16 strategic partnerships between financial institutions and shipping companies. A rapid-response mechanism for port enterprises’ financial needs has also been implemented, delivering tailored solutions in ship financing and risk management to 20+ companies.
A Global Stage for Maritime Innovation
With 22+ countries and regions participating and over 60,000 professional attendees expected, the Expo underscores Tianjin’s role as a hub for the "Port + Industry + City" integrated development model under the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy. The event invites global leaders to explore blue economy opportunities and pioneer smart shipping solutions.
