June 12–14, 2024 – The 3rd Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo (hereinafter "the Expo") will grandly open at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin). Spanning 50,000 square meters, the Expo covers the entire shipping industry chain, including international ports, shipowners, green smart shipping, logistics services, and cold chain innovation, positioning itself as a global benchmark for maritime development.
Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center: A Northern Hub Breaks Ground
Recently, the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center, a key project signed during the 2024 Expo, commenced construction in Dongli District. As Yuhu Group’s first-tier trading hub in North China, the facility covers 600,000 square meters with a storage capacity of 300,000 tons, integrating cold chain trading, warehousing, processing, supply chain finance, and smart logistics. It will serve as a regional hub for the "Three Norths" (North, Northwest, and Northeast China).
Wang Honghai, Member of the Tianjin Transport Commission, stated: "This project marks a milestone in Tianjin’s port-industry-city integration and cold chain logistics advancement."
Tianjin’s Cold Chain Network: Powering the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region
Tianjin has built a robust cold chain network anchored by two national logistics bases: Sino-Singapore Eco-City Central Fishing Port and Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone. Current infrastructure includes:
•93 cold storage facilities with total capacity of 2.3 million tons (192,000 tons under expansion).
•Annual imported cold chain products exceeding 1 million tons, supporting 60% of Beijing’s and 40% of Hebei’s premium fresh consumption.
Policy-Driven Innovation: Building a Future-Ready Ecosystem
Under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan for Cold Chain Logistics Development, Tianjin has launched initiatives like the Cold Chain Logistics Development Implementation Plan and the Three-Year Action Plan for High-Quality Cold Chain Industry Growth. Key achievements include:
•2024 national cold chain demand: 365 million tons.
•Tianjin’s cold chain ecosystem hosts giants like COFCO, Youhe Group, and Vanke Logistics.
•New energy refrigerated vehicle ownership: 350% annual growth.
•Smart cold storage penetration: over 40%.
Expo Highlights: Smart, Green, and Global Collaboration
The Expo will showcase cutting-edge technologies in cold chain logistics, including intelligent warehousing, green refrigeration, and IoT-enabled supply chain solutions. Concurrent events like the International Meat Trade & Shipping Trends Summit and the Tianjin Port-City Economic Development Forum will foster cross-sector collaboration, driving the "Port + Cold Chain + Trade + Finance" integration model.
